Whether a child is growing well cannot be judged by eye alone — it takes measurements of height, weight and head circumference. Regular monitoring allows many conditions to be found early.
What is specific to Mongolian children
National surveys show that about 90% of young children in Mongolia are vitamin D deficient and 26.6% have anaemia. Long winters with little sun deepen vitamin D deficiency, so replacing it on a clinician’s advice matters.
Supporting growth
- A balanced diet with protein, iron, calcium, fruit and vegetables.
- Vitamin D at the dose advised by a clinician, and iron when needed.
- Age-appropriate sleep and daily active movement.
- Measure height and weight regularly and track the growth curve.
